Perched high above the Crowsnest River Valley, Knotty Pine Meadows is home to this magnificnet and ancient Limber Pine.

 

 

Declared a Heritage Tree in 2008 by the Heritage Tree Foundation of Canada, this monument to Mother Nature is over 600 years old.

 

 

Oh, if she could speak what secrets would whisper forth of Canada's earliest pioneers and settlers?

 

 

In silhouette against majestic sunsets, though she appears a delicate sentinel watching over her realm, her strength is demonstrated in her very survival. Violent lightening strikes emitted from dark, tumultuous storms and ensuing raging fire could not destroy her will.

 

 

Still producing cones, this mighty matriarch seems determined to grace the Crowsnest River Valley for another 600 years.
